Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-Way Test led by: Kin Brewer

Visiting Rotarians:
  • David Haas, Marietta Morning Rotary
Announcements:
  • Duty Roster is circulating – PLEASE SIGN UP!
  • Danielle Bruni announced the Shelter Box project will exceed the goal of $5,000. This project has grown legs. Shawn Taylor has extended his outreach by contacting Warren High School. If they raise $500, he will take a pie in the face at the school. Front runners to avoid a pie in the face (individual who raises the most money) are Terry Rataiczak, Colleen Cook and Shawn Taylor.
  • Dave Vandenberg announced the GSO students all have a place to stay. Don’t forget the Valley Gem boat ride will be Labor Day Monday evening.
  • Morning Rotarian, Dave Haas, announced the Tales and Ales event will be Saturday, September 21, 2019. 5pm is happy Hour and 6pm dinner will be served. The menu is lobster or pulled pork. He has tickets for sale if anyone wants to purchase them.
Good News-Bad News:
  • Russ Reid and Joe Derkin are celebrating birthdays.
  • Charlotte Hatfield announced she is now at the senior status for rotary. She lives in Indiana and will be visiting Marietta frequently.
  • Dr. Vicki Wood announced that WSCC is the #1 Community College in the state of Ohio for the fourth year in a row.
  • Wally Kandel shared the sad news that Jessie Combs passed away. She was a great race car driver.
  • Bob Kirkbride announced he has donated $500 towards the Shelter Box project and took a $1 out of the can. He is now at the $499 goal to NOT get a pie in the face.
  • Judge Mark Kerenyi talked about the Buckeye Sheriff’s Cruise. Davis Powers may have had some trouble with the drone. Poor Charlie McLeish got a drone in his pants. The drone took some of Charlie’s blood.
Sergeant at Arms:

Laura Miller was the Sergeant of Arms today. She defined the purpose of the Sergeant at Arms role per the Rotary website. She fined all past presidents for not fulfilling this role better to the description and creating a less chaotic roast to our meetings. She exempted herself.

She fined all new Rotarians 2 years old and younger because she wanted them to feel welcome.
She honored Bob Kirkbride on his 80th birthday. Many stood up and provided a dollar to say nice or not so nice things to him.

Program:
Stacey Elliott and Kent Hall, Washington County Crisis Response Team

Split the Pot:
Laura Miller won the weekly prize of $37, but missed out on the jackpot. The game goes on!
